According to ANWR.org, the wildlife refuge is still being considered for development. At stake is the long-term damage to the land and wildlife for the irresponsible billions of barrels of recoverable oil. Environmentalists seem to be winning the battle. The amount of oil that could be recovered might not be worth the risk to the environment and will not be appreciable contribute towards US oil useful enough to reduce dependence on OPEC oil.
