For example, we continue to consume more and more natural resources, so how will the Earth's ecology end up being like? Are there strong negative effects? Or are the effects only likely to be short term in nature?

If we continue to consume natural resources, the results could be short term. I believe that the American people are resourceful and will come up with new ideas. All new technology is expensive at first. I remember the transistor radio. It was horrid looking and cost a bundle. But we will survive. And the new technology will come to the rescue. This will give the earth a chance to regrow trees and forests. And maybe replenish oil and natural gas.

There are negative effects to all interactions that humans have with natural resources on our Blue Planet. The ecology will be seriously affected if we continue to consume are the current rate as it has implications on climates and temperatures on earth. These will be long lasting effects as these resources take time for creation and a short time to deplete.

There will be strong negative effect In the long run when we keep on consuming the natural resources. The natural resources are finite and our human population keeps on increasing and the consumption not grows in percentage but in multiples each and every day. This will lead to imbalance in ecology which in turn will create new problems and disease.

Until we convert to "infinite" resources like wind, water, and nuclear power to generate energy, we will consume our finite natural resources (coal and oil, the fossil fuels) and continue to emit harmful gas into the environment. The negative effects are quite strong and will be long-lasting.
