There's been a slow, steady decline in the total volume of ozone in Earth's stratosphere since the late 1970s. How important is ozone depletion in bringing about climate changes?

The ozone is crucially important because it blocks out ultraviolet rays from the sun. If the ozone is depleted, then the climate will warm up significantly because more of the sun's rays will be able to reach the earth. The heat that does make it through the ozone's holes will then get trapped near the earth, raising the temperatures. |
