Afforestation refers to creating forests where they did not exist at any recent point in the past. Reforestation refers to restoring forests that have been destroyed by disease, fire, or logging. An afforestation program, for example, might involve planting forests in prairie areas that had few or no trees previously. A reforestation program,on the other hand, might involve a logging company planing several new trees for each tree it cut down. |
