It's very cold today and I've got the heating going but how can I reduce my impact on global warming?

I would put some more layers of clothes on rather than waste energy heating the house. Lower the temperature on the heater about 2 degrees. That is the best advice I can give you rather than just going out and buying a more energy efficient heater. The other option would be to switch to eco friendly power sources.

In addition to layering and lowering the temperature on your thermostat, you should consider investing in a space heater. You can buy a decent space heater for $25, spend a little bit more for a very good space heater, or invest in a great ceramic space heater, which will raise the temperature of your room considerably.

First, buy reusable products instead of disposable. Recycling your household waste will save cardon dioxide. Secondly, replace your regular light bulbs with compact fluorescent light (CFL) bulbs. CFL bulbs give off less heat and also last much longer. Finally, just turn off the lights when you leave a room. In fact, turn off all your appliances when you're not using them. These are just simple things, but if everyone contributed they can add up to a lot.
